Textile Banks

Tip - Household Waste Recycling Centres

Hampshire County Council Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) opening times are; 1st April to 30th September, 8.00am - 7.00pm.  1st October to 31st March, 8.00am - 4.00pm.  They close on 25th and 26th December.

 

Toilets (Public)

There are 17 public toilets in the borough of which a number have disabled facilities on site. Radar keys for people with disabilities are available free for Fareham residents on request from the Civic Offices Reception Desk. Please contact Reception on tel: 01329 236100.

Town Centre Management

Town Twinning (Civic)

Fareham is twinned with the towns of Pulheim in Germany (near Cologne) and Vannes in France (in southern Britanny). There is a programme of civic visits between the Borough Council and the authorities of each twin town, in alternate years. The visits to and from Pulheim normally involve 'working meetings' to learn about the way each deals with matters of common interest. There are arrangements for staff exchanges between the officers of Fareham and Vannes for the same purpose.

In addition to civic visits, there are a large number of other exchanges between Fareham and the two twin towns, involving youth groups, community organisations and sports clubs, etc. These are organised privately by the respective Twinning Committees. Trading Standards

Hampshire Trading Standards (this is an external hyperlink) is a county council function and is located in Winchester, tel: 08454 04 05 06. They deal with all product complaints, apart from food or eating outlets, which are dealt with by Fareham Borough Council's Environmental Health team - tel: 01329 236100 or e-mail regulatory@fareham.gov.uk.

Travel Planner

The Travel Planner shows proposed road works in Hampshire and also gives information on car sharing schemes.  It also provides access to information on air travel from both Southampton (Eastleigh) and Bournemouth airports.

 

Travel Plans

A travel plan is typically a package of practical measures to encourage staff to choose alternatives to the car. Employers are encouraged to develop travel plans, aimed at reducing car use for travel to work and for travel for business.

Tree Planting (Commemorative)

Trees can be planted within parks, open spaces and cemeteries subject to suitability and soil conditions in liaison with the Parks Officer in the Department of Customer Services, Leisure & Community Division. Tel: 01329 236100 or e-mail parks@fareham.gov.uk.

 

Tree Preservation Orders

All local authorities have a duty under the Town and Country Planning Act to preserve and protect trees that offer a reasonable degree of public benefit or provide amenity value.  If work is required to be carried out on protected trees all applications need to be made on the new standard government Tree Works Application form (this is an external hyperlink).  For assistance with completing the application form please refer to the accompanying Guidance Notes (this is an external hyperlink). A paper copy can also be obtained from the Department of Planning and Transportation, Environment Group, Civic Offices, Civic Way, Fareham PO16 7AZ.  For information on correct pruning techniques the Council has produced a set of tree pruning guidance notes.  Also a range of frequently asked questions on trees and your property have been compiled which may answer your queries.

You can check whether or not the trees on your property are protected by a TPO by using the council's Tree Preservation Orders Register.

 

Trees and Woodlands

The maintenance of trees in parks and open spaces is managed within the Parks section of the Department of Customer Services, Leisure & Community Division and includes tree safety, health and general pruning.
