However, recent changes to Universal Credit, as announced by the Chancellor on 22 November 2017, mean that the rollout of Universal Credit has been halted and from December 2017 until November 2018, you will need to claim Housing Benefit from Fareham Council instead of claiming Universal Credit.

Once you are on Universal Credit, you will normally remain on this even if you have a change in your circumstances such as a partner moving in to live with you. However, if you are living in temporary accommodation, you may be required to claim Housing Benefit and receive with your rent from Fareham Council, the Jobcentre will advise you what happens to your Universal Credit should you have a change in your circumstances or you are living in temporary accommodation.
