The Council's Future Plans
The Council is investigating a
whole host of other technological solutions to delivering best
practice procurement and improving information for its businesses
and customers. These include:
- Single Business
Account:
This will expand the information available in the current "Citizen's Account" enabling suppliers
businesses to have a single view of its relationship with
the Council. This will include information held in the
Councils Purchase and Sales ledgers as well as Ordering
systems and potentially with commercial rent accounts.
- Invoice
Tracking:
This would provide suppliers with a way of following an
invoice, step by step, through the Council's invoice
approval process, from the point of receipt to the point
of payment. We also hope to map progress against our
internal targets so you can see whether your bills will
be paid in accordance with the Council's standard terms.
- E-Marketplaces:
The Council is actively investigating the benefits of
adopting an electronic marketplace, through which all
commodity-based purchased would be made. This is a
Hampshire wide initiative that is being investigated, and
equally giving suppliers easier access to a wider
customer-base.
- E-Auctions:
This will use technology tested by Portsmouth City
Council to engage suppliers electronically through
internet bidding for particular commodity-based contracts.
- Procurement Cards:
This will give buyers the ability to settle bills with
suppliers at the point of supply, and is ideal for the
procurement of small value items, such as plumbing and
building materials.
