Economic Development

The Council provides a range of services to encourage the growth of business in the Borough. The Economic Development service is provided by the Department of Planning and Transportation.

The Economic Development service aims to support and promote the local economy. The activities of the service have increasingly focused on developing partnership arrangements to obtain benefits for the Borough. Consequently, many of the services provided to customers are now 'outsourced' to non-profit making partnership organisations, operating in the public interest, in which the Council has an ownership stake and some management influence and to which a significant commitment of staff time is made. In most cases, the services delivered in this way are common to and are co-financed by our neighbouring authorities.

Harbour Economic Development Forum

The main focus of the Forum is to respond to property, inward investment and information enquiries.  The Forum provides a valuable means of progressing common issues at member level.

South East Hampshire Enterprise Agencies (SEHEA)

The annual contribution to SEHEA enables the Agencies to offer direct support to Fareham businesses. The Agencies also manage the Fareham Enterprise Centre on the Council's behalf.

Hampshire Economic Partnership (HEP) & South East of England Development Agency (SEEDA)

Both are valuable co-ordinating bodies. SEEDA has a major influence on the way in which sub-regional organisations operate and recognises HEP as its sub regional lead partner. SEEDA's Regional Economic Development Strategy sets the priorities for action and investment to improve local economic performance.

Fareham Town Management Initiative

Economic Development activity includes Town Centre Management. The Council employs a Town Manager and the Fareham Town Management Initiative is jointly funded by contributions from the Council and businesses in the town centre.
