Cams Estate - 'Hi-Tech Companies Showcase'

The second Fareham Technology Forum event was a great success. 47 representatives from 32 companies attended the function, hosted by the Cams Estate in Delme Place, more than doubling the figure of those who attended the first meeting in April.

The Forum was initiated by Fareham Borough Council and has been established in partnership with companies and organisations active in Fareham. Key members include GEC Marconi Aerospace, both local Universities, Telsis and SOTEL.

The buffet evening featured presentations from leading businesses from the Cams Estate, including; Lava Systems, ASK Multimedia and Computerised Sales Solutions.

Lava Systems reported 100% annual growth since arriving in Fareham, mainly through acquisition. ASK Multimedia demonstrated the productivity value in interactive training media. New to the estate, Computerised Sales Solution (CSS) outlined their work with blue-chip clients in the financial services sector. The three companies together employ over 250 full time employees. Lava have been acquired by a US concern and have expanded outside of the area.

Mark Child of Computerised Sales Solution, thought the idea was a "laudable initiative". Jim Thatcher of SOTEL made "substantial contacts" and described the event as "very profitable". He went on to say in reference to a deal negotiated, "I think as a result of last night's meeting we have improved dramatically our chances of winning this sale".

The Council's view is that a Forum for Fareham companies enables them to meet and understand better each other's business activities. The outcome should be the generation of large amounts of new business for the benefit of the local economy.
