The Cambridge Phenomenon comes to Fareham

The event was hosted by the new START Fareham Centre at Segensworth, a project brought about by a partnership between developer START International (this is an external hyperlink) and St Johns Innovation (this is an external hyperlink), Cambridge.

Walter Herriot, Director of the St. John's Innovation Centre, Cambridge since 1990 gave an enthusiastic and stimulating talk about

• Cambridge success stories and how they came about by nurturing spin out businesses from the intellectual excellence of the university. The Cambridge Phenomenon has become a model for commercialising the ideas and skills of a strongly-scientific university community.

• Fareham sits at the heart of a dynamic South Hampshire business area with highly regarded academic communities and is a good place to continue the success story

• St Johns Innovation will help build the Fareham technology business base by supporting new and growing businesses both in its START centre and in the wider area, applying the lessons learnt in Cambridge

St Johns Innovation has chosen Fareham as the best location for its first centre outside Cambridge - START Fareham opened at the end of April 2003.
