Cllr Mrs Ruth Godrich was elected as Deputy Mayor of Fareham for one year from May 2008 to May 2009 and took up office at the May annual meeting of the Council. Her Consort is her husband Cllr Mike Godrich. In her role as Deputy Mayor she will support the Mayor, Cllr Ernest Crouch in his duties throughout the year and will often attend events on his behalf, when he is otherwise engaged.
Cllr Mrs Ruth Godrich is a Fareham resident, coming from generations of Fareham families, on both her Mother and Father’s side. Her primary education was in Fareham, and secondary was in Southampton, where she also received Business and Secretarial training.
Whilst working for a firm of Solicitors in Fareham, Ruth married Mike. They have a daughter, Juliet and a son Simon. Ruth was first elected to the Council in 1979 and served for 4 years. She then came back in 1990 and was elected Deputy Mayor in 1994. Ruth returned again in 1996 to the present day, 20 years in total. She has served on all of the major Committees of the Council, and apart from Council work, was a school governor for 25 years between 4 schools in the Locks Heath area.
Ruth has been Chairman of Fareham Road safety Council for some years, a member of the Genesis Youth Project Management team and a member of Western Wards Community Campus Management Board at Brookfield School and Locks Heath Memorial Hall.
