Dynamic, Prudent, Progressive and Best Practice Council

To be an efficient and effective local authority the Council will:

• Ensure that adequate corporate governance  (164 KB) arrangements are in place that includes structures, policies, procedures and a culture that makes sure it takes decisions, manages its functions and achieves its objectives in an effective and accountable manner.   We will also takes steps to ensure that we comply with all statutory and, where appropriate, non-statutory duties that relate to finance, audit and inspection of a local authority.

• Provide appropriate support to its elected members to facilitate a transparent decision-making process  (152 KB) and ensure that all decisions are made in accordance with the law and its constitution.  We will provide appropriate support to members, ensuring that they are informed and supported in their decision-making and scrutiny roles.

• Provide clear and accountable community leadership by encouraging vibrant local democracy  (115 KB).

• Ensure that adequate arrangements are in place to secure continuous improvement  (166 KB) and to keep increases in the Council's share of the council tax below inflation.
