The Right of Appeal

An applicant can lodge an appeal if:

  • The Council refuses their application;
  • The Council grants their application subject to conditions and they are unhappy with one or more of the conditions; or
  • The Council fails to make a decision within the required period.

Only an applicant has the right of a planning appeal.

Planning appeals are handled by the Planning Inspectorate on behalf of the Department of Communities and Local Government.  You can submit an appeal online (this is an external hyperlink).

You can also follow the progress of a planning appeal, submit comments in respect of an appeal and view decisions online at the Planning Inspectorate's website (this is an external hyperlink).

You can view details submitted in connection with planning appeals through the Council's on-line planning service.
