Down End Composting Site
Hampshire County Council have three green waste composting sites located in: Chilbolton, Down End (Fareham), Little Bushy Warren (Basingstoke).
All the green garden waste collected at the Hampshire Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) (and by some district councils) is taken to one of these sites. The green waste is composted in windrows, and turned into ‘Pro-Grow’ – high quality soil and lawn conditioners, woodchip mulch or pine bark that is available to buy at every HWRC.
A major expansion of Little Bushy Warren is under way, which will eventually mean that the three sites combined will be able to process over 100,000 tonnes of compost material every year.
