Initially Environmental Health officers should be able to advise businesses on the requirements, and they may be able to help with advice on how to approach identifying and controlling food hazards. They may want to discuss procedures and operating practices in some details and can give advice on how to improve them. However, in the end, it is still your responsibility to ensure that any activity critical to food safety is under adequate control. The Environmental Health officers' role is to help and advise you on the safe production, distribution and sale of food. In some cases it may be necessary to take action to help avoid any risks to consumers.
