Consultation on Revision of Statement of Principles

Section 349 of the Gambling Act requires all licensing authorities to prepare and publish a statement of the principles that they propose to apply, in exercising their functions under the Act, during the three year period to which the policy applies. The current policy was adopted by full Council on 15th February 2007, and the policy took effect on 20th April 2007. Its three year period therefore ends in April 2010.

The Secretary of State, however, has ordered that policies for the second three year period must be in place by the 31st January 2010, which means the intention to publish a policy must be advertised by 3rd January 2010.  This consultation period will close on 11th December 2009. After this time comments received will be considered and incorporated into the revised policy as necessary.
