Requirements to become a Private Hire Operator
The main Act of Parliament covering the licensing of Private Hire Operators is contained in Part II of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976
The Act says that a Local Authority cannot grant you a licence unless we are satisfied that:
- You are a ‘fit and proper’ person to hold an Operators licence.
- If you do not hold a licence to drive licensed vehicles in the Borough you will be required to have a Criminal Record Bureau Disclosure carried out.
- Your proposed business premises address is in the Fareham Borough.
- You will only use vehicles/drivers licensed by Fareham Borough Council whilst operating in the Fareham Borough.
