Private Hire Vehicles must have no more than 8 passenger seats but they are required to be booked in advance by customers through an operator and may not ply for hire in the street.

 

There is no restriction on the number of licensed private hire vehicles in the Fareham Borough.

 

The vehicle licensed by Fareham Borough Council licensed throughout the year but all are renewed on an annual basis on 1 May each year.

 

There is no requirement to notify the police or to advertise a vehicle application, the Director of Regulatory Services has delegated authority to issue or refuse licences. However breaches of a more serious nature are referred to the Licensing Panel for determination.

 

If you want to drive a Private Hire vehicle in the Borough, you must first obtain either a Private Hire or Dual Drivers Licence.
