Homecheck

  • Have you got around to putting up that smoke alarm yet?
  • Still haven't got around to checking that plug wiring?
  • You said last month that you would put a chain on the front door, but still haven't found the time?

Well perhaps it is time you had a Homecheck?

If you live in the Borough of Fareham and have a child under the age of 5 or if you are aged 60 or over then you can get your home safety 'checked' by a fully trained Homecheck Officer for just £10.00.  The average cost of a Homecheck is calculated to be £80.39, but as the Council subsidizes this scheme, the only charge we pass on to residents is £10.00.

Are you in receipt of benefits?

If you receive Job Seekers Allowance (income based), Income Support, or Guaranteed Pension Credit, the £10.00 charge will be waivered. Proof of this will need to be provided on the day of your Homecheck inspection, prior to the work being carried out.

If you do not receive any of these benefits, the £10.00 charge will apply. For your convenience, the Homecheck Officer will collect payment on the day of your inspection. Cash or cheque (with a guarantee card) are acceptable forms of payment.

For further information please contact the Department of Strategic Housing's administration section on 01329 236100 or e-mail customerservices@fareham.gov.uk.
