Fareham Borough Council's Afford Scheme

Aims

 

In order to assist those who approach the Council for help with finding accommodation, the Afford Scheme (308Kb) has been set up to help people access private rented accommodation.

 

Whilst Fareham Borough Council does not undertake the overall management of the property, the scheme is designed to provide landlords with security and peace of mind during the early stages of a tenancy by providing:

 

• A six month rent guarantee
• A Bond equivalent to one month’s rent

On 1st October 2008 it became mandatory for all Landlords to make Energy Performance Certificates available to all new tenants as part of the lettings process. Each EPC will last 10 years. On 1st April 2009, Gas Safe Register became the official stamp for gas safety in Great Britain and the Isle of Man. CORGI gas registration is no longer valid or recognised by law in these regions.
