Council Garages

Fareham Borough Council owns garages throughout the Borough which are available to rent for the use of storing a vehicle.  Garages cannot be rented to store furniture etc or to use as a workshop.

To apply to rent a garage please complete the application form (64 Kb) PDF logo and return to the address shown on the form or fill in an online form.

Applicants who are presently Council tenants are given priority on the waiting list, however, garages can be rented by non council tenants.

The application form asks you to state the area/s where you would like to rent the garage.  Certain areas in the Borough are more sought after than others and it is, therefore, impossible to say how long you would have to wait before being made an offer.

To terminate the tenancy of a garage a weeks notice must be given.  This can be arranged by completing the termination form (67 Kb) PDF logoor by contacting the Council in writing.   The termination date must be on a Monday, with the keys being returned to the Council Offices by 12 noon on that day.

Any rent arrears must be cleared before the termination can be accepted.  If you fall behind with the rent at any time, the Council may issue a 'Notice to Quit' and you will be asked to clear the outstanding debt.

Providing there are garages available you may rent more than one garage at a time.

The weekly rent charges are as follows:

  • Council Tenants and Named Leaseholders £8.50
  • Non Council Tenants £9.99
