Are you:
• An existing tenant of Fareham Borough Council or Housing Association within the local area?
• A first time buyer?
• A keyworker?
• Registered on the Council’s housing waiting list?
Fareham Borough Council in partnership with various housing associations is able to help local people who can’t afford to buy a home of their own through two initiatives:
Newbuild Homebuy (previously called Shared Ownership) is a part buy / part rent scheme giving households the opportunity to buy a home of their own in stages and eventually to own outright. Many new housing developments in Fareham include a number of Newbuild Homebuy properties.
Open Market Homebuy gives local people the chance to buy a home of their choice (purchase price limits are set) on the open market like any other homebuyer. You pay for 75% of the cost of the home and Swaythling Housing Society will give you a loan for the rest. The loan is repayable when you sell your home at a later date or you can repay it at any time before then if you wish.
If you are a keyworker there are also special schemes available through the Keyworker Living Scheme (this is an external hyperlink). This is a government led initiative designed to assist frontline key workers, whose services are essential to local communities and who need to live within a reasonable 'travelling to work' distance of those communities.
For more information on the Homebuy schemes, please contact the local zone agent Swaythling Housing Society via the Homes in Hants website (this is an external hyperlink); Customer Services: 02380 628000 or e-mail: info@homesinhants.org.uk. Details of current Homebuy developments are also available.
Fareham Council recommends that any person interested in buying a property through the Homebuy Schemes (except keyworkers) also register their housing need with Fareham Council by completing a waiting list form to assist this process.
