Transfer Grant Scheme
Fareham Borough Council operates a incentive reward scheme to existing tenants who wish to downsize their property. This scheme is aimed at tenants who are living in a property which is too large for their needs and would be interested in transferring to a smaller property.
If you do transfer to a smaller property you will receive a financial reward for doing so.

In addition to the above financial incentives the Council has further enhanced the scheme.
Under the previous scheme, we would inspect a property before the transfer and if redecoration was needed, this would have to be carried out by the outgoing tenant. If this work was not done and we had to carry out the work, then we would deduct the cost of this from the transfer grant.
This could result in an elderly or disabled tenant being unable to carry out the work or incurring considerable cost. As a result we have decided that where the tenant is elderly or disabled we will no longer pass the redecoration costs onto them.
In addition, if the property that the tenant is moving to is a general purpose property and there are rooms that need decorating, instead of awarding rent-free weeks for each room deemed to be in need of re-decoration, the Council has agreed to decorate those rooms.
