Fareham Borough Council recognises the need for comprehensive, up to date information on the leisure and cultural needs and aspirations of its residents. number of public consultations have taken place in recent years as follows:
The results of all the surveys listed above inform and are contained in the appropriate sections of this strategy. Details of surveys (a) to (c) are given in the sections of this strategy to which they relate. The main findings from surveys (d) to (h) insofar as they relate to leisure and culture are set out below.
The Council sent a detailed questionnaire to a random sample of 4,626 households in the borough. A total of 1,791 returns were received, which equates to a response rate of 39%
Overall, around two-thirds (64%) were satisfied with cultural and leisure services in Fareham. Three in ten were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied and only 7% were dissatisfied.
The highest level of satisfaction was found among Stubbington residents (75%) and the lowest in Warsash (54%) but there was no significant difference in the level of dissatisfaction across the wards.
The youngest and oldest residents were more likely to be satisfied than the others were (62% amongst the under 35s and 69% of those aged 55 and over). Female residents were more likely to be satisfied (66%) than the men (60%). The men were more likely to give a neutral rating whilst both genders were equally likely (7%) to be dissatisfied.
