Leisure and cultural activities are an important part of people's lives, providing opportunities for personal fulfilment and a healthy lifestyle while promoting family cohesion and community identity. They are important to the quality of life in Fareham and make a significant contribution to the local economy. A high quality natural and built environment and a good range of facilities can raise the profile of the Borough to residents and visitors alike and promote local identity.
The Leisure and Cultural Strategy sets out the Council's commitment to address the needs of Fareham people and to co-ordinate the contribution of private, public and voluntary providers in the Borough. It recognises that leisure and cultural opportunities cross local authority boundaries.
Through this strategy, Fareham Borough Council will take the opportunity to involve the community in the generation of leisure and cultural initiatives and projects that will secure high quality facilities for Fareham people. This will require new methods of service delivery, maximising funding opportunities and increased partnership working.
Through this strategy, Fareham Borough Council has the opportunity to develop and maintain high quality facilities and opportunities and to generate community involvement in leisure and cultural initiatives and projects. Our aim is that the Borough of Fareham will continue to be a place where people enjoy their local environment and have the opportunity to participate in a range of leisure activities.
