Fareham Borough Council has a significant impact on the provision of leisure & cultural opportunities in the Borough which is reflected in one of its seven corporate objectives being, Leisure for Health and for Fun.
In recognition of the importance of leisure and culture, the Council has developed the Leisure for Health & for Fun strategy (392Kb)
document which outlines the Councils approach to the facilitating leisure & cultural opportunities in the Borough and sets out its vision and priorities.
A number of strategic aims have been identified that reflect the Council's priorities and ambitions in what is considered to be the main broad areas of leisure and cultural provision.
In addition to the strategic aims, each area has a series of "smart" actions that form the key improvement priorities for the Council's Leisure & Community Division, who will be take the lead on the delivery of these actions.
The Councils aim is to ensure that services are accessible to everyone, irrespective of race, gender, age, disability, religion or sexual orientation; we would also like to know about any barriers which make access to leisure and community services more difficult for some groups of people. Barriers could include the physical accessibility of buildings or facilities, opening hours, restrictions in the range of activities which take place or types of activity or event which unintentionally exclude some people.
