General information about Cemeteries in the borough and Portchester Crematorium.

 

Crofton Cemetery, Stubbington

Crofton Cemetery is situated in Oakcroft Lane, Stubbington.

Vehicular access can be gained via Oakcroft Lane, off Mays Lane or via Lychgate Green and off Marks Tey Road if on foot.

The Church of England has consecrated this Cemetery and the interment of people of different religions is permitted. Children graves are available and there is a Garden of Remembrance.

 

Fareham Cemetery, Fareham (also known as Wickham Road Cemetery)

Fareham Cemetery is situated in Wickham Road, Fareham.

Vehicular and pedestrian access can be gained through the main gates the entrance of the Cemetery.

The cemetery is distinguished by its two Chapels linked by a gatehouse spanning. This listed building was erected in 1889 in the centre of the main drive. Only one side of the building is now used as a chapel.

This chapel can be hired for a memorial service on payment of a fee to the council. Approximately 40 persons can be seated. It is possible for the hirer to bring an electric organ.

The cemetery is open daily at the following times:

  • 1 April - 30 September, 8.30am until 8.00 pm
  • 1 October - 31 March, 8.30am until 5.00 pm
  • The Cemetery is divided into sections for the interment of people of different religious beliefs, including:
  • Church of England
  • Roman Catholic
  • Muslim
  • Non-conformist

Children graves are also available and there is a Garden of Remembrance.

Public conveniences are available within in the cemetery grounds.

 

Posbrook Lane Cemetery, Titchfield (also known as Claypits Cemetery)

Both pedestrian and vehicular access via the entrance in Posbrook Lane, Titchfield.

  

The Cemetery is divided into sections for the interment of people of different religion beliefs, including:

  • Church of England
  • Roman Catholic and non-conformist

Children graves are also available and there is a Garden of Remembrance.

 

St Peters Cemetery, Titchfield

This cemetery is sometimes known as Titchfield Churchyard as it is located within the vicinity of St Peter’s Church.

Pedestrian access to the cemetery can be gained.

  • via the Churchyard, just off Titchfield square
  • via Church Path from Castle Street or East Street
  • via the footpath from Bridge Street

The Garden of Remembrance runs along the boundary of the churchyard adjacent to the Titchfield canal.

 

Roman Grove Cemetery, Portchester

Roman Grove Cemetery is situated in Castle View Road, Portchester.

Vehicular and pedestrian access can be gained via Castle View Road. Additional pedestrian access is via Wicor Path, off Castle Street, Portchester.

The cemetery is open daily at the following times:

  • 1 April - 30 September, 8.30am until 8.00pm
  • 1 October- 31 March, 8.30am until 5.00pm
  • The Cemetery is divided into sections for the interment of people of different religious beliefs, including:
  • Church of England
  • Roman Catholic
  • Non-conformist

Children graves are also available and there is Garden of Remembrance.

 

St Johns Cemetery, Locks Heath

St Johns Cemetery is situated in St Johns Road.

Pedestrian access is gained by entering the small gate located on St John's Road. The entrance is opposite Locks Heath House Park. A few steps lead down to the Cemetery gate.

The Church of England has consecrated this Cemetery.

There are no new graves available in this cemetery however; interments can still take place if the graves have been pre-purchased.

 

St Pauls Cemetery, Sarisbury

St Paul’s Cemetery is situated to the South of St Paul’s churchyard on the corner of Bridge Street, A27 and Barnes Lane.

Pedestrian access can be gained by going through St Pauls Churchyard. A few steps link the Churchyard and the Cemetery.

 The Church of England has consecrated this Cemetery.

There are no new graves available in this cemetery however; interments can still take place if the graves have been pre-purchased.

 

Holly Hill Cemetery, Sarisbury

Holly Hill Cemetery is situated adjacent to Holly Hill Woodland Park, Barnes Lane, Sarisbury.

Both pedestrian and vehicular access is gained via Barnes Lane. A large car park and toilet facilities are available at the entrance.

The Cemetery is divided into sections for the interments of people of different beliefs, including:

  • Church of England
  • Roman Catholic and non-conformist

Children graves are available and there is a garden of Remembrance for Cremated Remains.

There are no new graves available in this cemetery however; interments can still take place if the graves have been pre-purchased.

 

Portchester Crematorium

The Portchester Crematorium was opened in 1958 and is situated on the lower slopes of Portsdown Hill between Fareham and Portsmouth. The crematorium is controlled by a Joint Committee of Councillors representing the city of Portsmouth, and the Boroughs of Fareham, Havant and Gosport but operates as an independent establishment with specialised administrative and technical support from the constituent local authorities.
