Portchester Crematorium

The Portchester Crematorium was opened in 1958 and is situated on the lower slopes of Portsdown Hill between Fareham and Portsmouth. The crematorium is controlled by a Joint Committee of Councillors representing the city of Portsmouth, and the Boroughs of Fareham, Havant and Gosport but operates as an independent establishment with specialised administrative and technical support from the constituent local authorities.

Location

Portchester is located on the main A27 Portsmouth to Fareham Road. The crematorium is signposted and may be found by leaving the A27 at its junction with Dore Avenue and Cornaway Lane. The exact location is Upper Cornaway Lane. Long distance travellers should exit from junction 11 of the M27.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can be interred into a cremation plot?
Two interments of cremated remains can take in a cremation plot. The remains must be placed in a wooden casket prior to the interment, which are supplied by Funeral Directors
