Walk Three: Titchfield Abbey

The walk
From the car park cross Bridge Street and take the path which runs along the side of the canal. Follow this over a footbridge and into a churchyard.
Where another path crosses, take the right hand path up to East Street. (Short cut: Take a left along East Street and follow the road past the village. After the shops you will see Church Street to your left. Take this turning and follow the path back across the footbridge, along the canal side and over Bridge Street to the car park).
Cross East Street and head; just slightly to the left, into Mill Street. When you reach the A27 use the pedestrian crossing to your left and head across to Mill Lane, just to your right. Follow Mill Lane until you see the entrance to Titchfield Abbey to your left.
After you have explored these ruins head south back down Mill Lane. You will soon come across a track to the right, which runs along the side of a nursery. Follow this path along, curving to the left around a green. Continue straight ahead, between fields and over styles until you reach the A27.
Cross the A27 at the pedestrian crossing and go back down Mill Street. At the end of Mill Street take a right and follow this road round through Titchfield Village. After the shops you will see Church Street to your left. Take this turning and follow the path back across the footbridge, along the canal side and over Bridge Street to the car park.
Travel directions
From M27 Junction 9 follow signs for the A27. You will quickly reach a large roundabout. Take the turning for the A27 East, towards Fareham. Go straight ahead at the first roundabout. You will pass a set of traffic lights - get in the right hand lane and follow the right hand turn in a loop around. The second turning off this loop is to Titchfield Village - take this and follow this road which turns left through the village centre (High Street). Continue along High Street until you reach a mini roundabout. Take a left hand turn into Bridge Street. Directly after you cross the canal you will see a turning to the right, off which is a small car park.

There are a number of pubs in Titchfield Village, or you could stop halfway on your walk at one of the pubs in Mill Lane.
