Maintenance of Cemeteries and Graves

The Contractors appointed by the Council maintain all graves to the same standard.

Maintenance includes grass cutting, leaf and litter clearing, removal of spent flowers, upkeep of trees, shrubs, roses, flowerbeds and memorial borders.

The Council does not maintain planting undertaken by relatives.

The Council shall endeavour to reinstate all newly excavated graves within 12 months of excavation, subject to ground conditions and to the season of the year being appropriate for these works to be undertaken.

The reinstatement shall include the levelling and seeding of the ground. The Council may undertake the planting of roses in memorial borders.

The Council may place chippings in the areas surrounding the memorial tablets in the Garden of Remembrance.
