The equipment in the play area is vandalised – how do I report this?

Although regular inspections of the equipment are undertaken there may be instances when visitors wish to report items that have been damaged.  If you find a problem please do not hesitate to contact us.  Vandalism to equipment can be reported on-line using the Report a Problem facility, by emailing customerservices@fareham.gov.uk or by calling 01329 236100.

Can I have a new play area/additional equipment in my local park?

An audit of play facilities and services has recently been carried out as part of our Play Strategy.  A refurbishment programme for play areas has been developed on the basis of child population density, walking distances to play areas in each ward and quality of existing play areas.  Resources will be therefore be targeted to install new play areas in locations where facilities are lacking and to refurbish equipment most in need.  This Programme of Refurbishment will be carried out over the next three years.

There is broken glass in the play area – can this be removed?

Play areas are visited at least twice weekly for cleaning operations, with busier sites being visited more often.  If additional cleans are required on site this can be reported on-line through our Report a Problem facility, by emailing customerservices@fareham.gov.uk or by calling 01329 236100.

How often is the play equipment inspected?

Equipment is checked by qualified inspectors on a weekly basis (minimum) to ensure that equipment is functional, secure and safe.  In addition to this, all play areas are visited at least twice a week to carry out appropriate cleansing operations, such as litter collection.  Play areas may be visited in addition to the above frequencies during heavy use such as school holidays and after reported vandalism.  Some popular sites are visited on five occasions per week.

What play equipment is featured on site?

All play areas have a variety of fixed equipment suitable for children aged 2-5 years old (toddler) and children aged 6-12 years old (junior), and some have equipment also suitable for older children.  Detailed information of equipment contained within the most popular play areas and skate parks, including photographs, can be viewed online.
