(4) Broadlaw Walk Shopping Precinct (Completed 2000)
The improvements to Broadlaw Walk Shopping Precinct involved the introduction of a curving strip of coloured block paving, with trees and seats, into the earlier bare black bitmac central area.This sweeping curve introduces a simple but interesting pattern when viewed from above from the surrounding residential properties. The remaining bitmac was surfaced with resin bonded gravel which, together with the new trees, creates a brighter, more colourful space.
The precinct had been visually screened from Bishopsfield Road by a canopy and this was removed to allow views into the shopping precinct. A new sign was also provided on the Bishopsfield Road frontage to identify the shopping centre and the individual shops within to encourage passers-by to stop and shop.
