Landscape Types and Character Areas

The Borough of Fareham is located at the western end of the 'South Downs' and 'South Coast Plain' National Countryside Character Areas (External Link). Fareham therefore enjoys a wide diversity of landscape types, historic landscape types and landscape character areas from chalk downs to cliff coastline, within an area of 75 square kilometres (30 square miles) as shown on the plan below.
