Coastal landscape types include mud flats, shingle and dunes, harbours or marinas, and salt marsh. Coastal wetland could be confused with valley floor marsh and rough grazing, or with salt marsh, but salt marsh can be identified by its highly irregular shape consisting of many small creeks. Coastal wetlands are distinguished from valley floor marsh by adjacent tidal rivers, or being immediately adjacent to the coast.
