Core Strategy

The Core Strategy is a Development Plan Document that sets out the key elements of the planning framework for the Borough. It includes policies for areas and issues requiring development or protection. Proposals for strategic sites will provide the principles to be worked up in more detail through specific plans for the Strategic Development Area to the north of Fareham, Fareham Town Centre and the Coldeast and Daedalus sites.

Adoption  

The Core Strategy (3.03 Mb)  was adopted by full Council on 4 August 2011. The Core Strategy now forms part of the Development Plan and replaces, in whole or part, a number of policies in the Fareham Borough Local Plan Review. Read the Press Release - Fareham's Core Strategy approved.

Public Examination

The Council received the Inspector's Binding Report on the Examination into the Core Strategy on 20 July 2011. The Inspector found the Core Strategy to be 'sound' subject to the changes set out in the Inspector's Report. The Public Examination took place between 28 February 2011 and 20 July 2011, with the public hearings part of the examination being held on 17, 18, 19, 25 and 26 May 2011. Details of the public examination can be viewed on the Core Strategy Public Examination page.

Submission Stage  

On 28th February 2011 Fareham Borough Council submitted the Core Strategy (5.46 Mb)  to the Secretary of State for Public Examination on the 'soundness' of the plan. The submission documents were also submitted alongside the Core Strategy including the representations received, the Sustainability Appraisal Report, the Statements of Consultation, Representation and Community Involvement, and supporting documents, technical evidence studies, an Equality Impact Assessment and an Assessment made in accordance with the Habitats Regulations. Representations Stage

The period for representations took place from Monday 13th December 2010 to Monday 31st January 2011 at 5pm and has now closed.

Representations to the Core Strategy were submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination by a Government appointed Inspector.  

Preferred Options

Consultation on Preferred Options for the Core Strategy took place between 12th January and 23rd February 2009.

Issues and Options

An Issues and Options paper was available for public consultation from the 28th January - 7th March 2008.
