Residential Car and Cycle Parking Standards Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) November 2009

Following changes in government policy, we have revised our guidance and standards for parking in new residential developments. Ensuring that appropriate levels of car parking are provided in new developments, is a key part of making sure residential areas are attractive, accessible and safe for existing and future residents.  The new standards are based on how many cars people are likely to own in the future, and consider important issues such as garage, visitor and cycle parking, as well as parking layout and design.

The new Residential Car & Cycle Parking Standards SPD (731 Kb) PDF Icon and Residential Car & Cycle Parking Standards SPD adoption statement (34 Kb) PDF Icon can be viewed in PDF or in hard copy at the Civic Offices and libraries within the Borough.

An accompanying Residential Car & Cycle Parking Standards SPD Background Research & Consultation Paper (609 Kb) PDF Icon has been provided to explain the various stages of research in preparing the document, and lists all the comments received during the period of consultation held in June/July 2009.
