Speed Limits

The Council frequently receives requests for the introduction of lower speed limits on certain Borough roads. However, a few are improved for various reasons set down by the Department of Transport. 

The strict rules are in place to ensure that a speed limit is appropriate for the particular road and is enforceable.  The police are responsible for enforcing the speed limits and therefore all proposals for the introduction of changes in speed limits must be approved by them.
