Bus Pass

The Government's Statutory Scheme

The Government Statutory scheme, which came into force on 1 April 2008, provides free off peak bus travel on local services anywhere in England. Off peak is defined as:

  • Travel between 9:30am and 11.00pm on Monday through to Friday and at all times of the day during weekends and Bank Holidays

Local Authorities are able to provide an enhanced scheme, but it is a requirement of the legislation that each pass recipient opts out of the statutory scheme each year.  Fareham Borough Council offers a scheme which exceeds the statutory minimum.

Fareham's Bus Pass Scheme 2009

  • Free local travel for Fareham bus pass holders, for journeys which commence anywhere in England, between 9:30am and 11.00pm on Monday through to Friday, and at all times of the day during weekends and Bank Holidays.
