Main Responsibilities

The Department of Finance and Resources provides a number of front line services which impact on the quality of life in the Borough. These include paying benefits, business rate and council tax collection, reactive and planned maintenance of the Council's housing stock, managing commercial estates and providing concessionary travel for older residents and those with disabilities.

 

The department also delivers services which provide the support and assistance needed to keep all of the Council's other services operating smoothly. These include strategic financial planning, accountancy, exchequer functions (such as payroll, debt recovery and supplier payments), systems development, managing and maintaining the operational property portfolio (such as the civic offices, car parks, depot, etc), internal audit and assurance services.
