How much benefit will I get?

Before making your claim, you may want an instant on-line estimate of your Housing and Council Tax Benefit entitlement, please see the benefits calculator or turn2us, a free online benefits calculator. 

You can make a claim in one of the following ways:

• Complete a Housing and Council Tax Benefit claim form online

If you require help filling in this form, click this help guide - (170 Kb) . There is also a 'Help' section within the form itself.

Please note: Although the form states that you need to print and send the declaration on page 34 to our office, this will not be necessary. After reading and agreeing with the declaration, simply click in the 'Tick box signature' and complete the Date field. You may then submit to the form to us. Details of this can be found in the above help guide.

If you do not have access to the internet at home you can access a PC in the main reception area at the Civic Offices and go online. Alternatively, you may gain access to a PC at your local library.

• Over the phone with one of our Benefit Advisors

If you do not have internet access at home and you would like to make a claim over the telephone, please call the Benefits Section on 01329 824646. An advisor will look to book a telephone appointment with you within 24-48 hours (at a time convenient with you between 9.30am and 4.00pm). They will advise you of the information you will need to have available during this call.

• In person with one of our Benefit Advisors at the Civic Offices

If it is not possible for you to claim online at home or via the telephone with one of our Advisors, please call the Benefits Section on 01329 824646 to arrange an appointment.

In each of the above cases, your claim can only be paid once all of the information that is requested of you is received. Any delay in submitting the necessary information may hold up the assessment process.
