Information about snow, ice and road salting (this is an external hyperlink) is available. As there was a national shortage of salt in the winter, stocks have been increased. There is a new salt barn in Micheldever and supplies have been delivered to Southampton docks, avoiding problems with road deliveries in extreme weather.
All salting routes (this is an external hyperlink)have been reviewed after last winter's severe weather and recommendations to increase and update the coverage of Priority One routes which include major bus routes and emergency service bases are being put in place.
Hampshire County Council’s Adult Services department is urging people to be ‘good neighbours’ to elderly and vulnerable people (this is an external hyperlink) during the extreme cold weather. If you are aware of someone who is vulnerable and is at risk due to the cold weather, please contact Adult Services on 0845 603 5630.
