Railing around the Children's Play Area by Peter ClutterbuckArtist - Peter Clutterbuck

Peter Clutterbuck is a local blacksmith. He took a degree course in sculpture in the late 60s before setting up his own forge in Portsmouth in 1970. He is self-taught and now has his son working with him "making ideas into iron".

Peter has been responsible for the restoration of the historic iron lamp columns in Fareham High Street, and his more recent work can been seen in the Southsea bandstand and the Garden of Reflection in Osborn Road, also in Fareham.

His contribution is the railing around the children's play area, which is based on the design of the safety pin. In this, as every design, the task was "to realise the dream time design within the workshop realities - a problem Henry Cort knew well".
