Streetwise Healthwise

 

Following the success of last year’s event, Fareham Borough Council is again hosting the ‘Streetwise Healthwise’ event in partnership with local agencies. The event will run for one week from Monday 19 May to Friday 23 May in the newly refurbished Burridge Village Hall.

Approximately 400 children from 8 Primary Schools across the borough will attend the event during the week to learn how to be streetwise and stay healthy. The year 6 pupils (aged 10-11 years) will learn about fire safety, personal safety, road safety, keeping fit and active, how to eat more healthily as well finding out about recycling in Fareham. Supporting this event are experts from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, Hampshire Constabulary, the County Council’s Road Safety Unit, Fareham Leisure Centre and Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.

Executive Member for Community, Councillor Connie Hockley, said: “The council is proud to be involved with this initiative enabling youngsters to get out of the classroom and learn from the experts in a fun and informative way. I would like to thank the agencies which make this event possible.”

The schools due to attend this year are:

Crofton Anne Dale County Junior School; Locks Heath County Junior School; Park Gate County Primary School; Red Barn County Primary School; Redlands Primary School; St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School; St John the Baptist CE Primary School; Wallisdean County Junior School.
