Open to enthusiastic gardeners of all ages, this year’s Fareham in Bloom competition is once again looking for ‘the best in the borough’ in 21 categories. Sponsored by Warner Goodman Solicitors and organised by Fareham Borough Council, the closing date for Fareham in Bloom 2008 is Friday 20 June.
The annual competition is a popular and well known gardening campaign aimed at encouraging local residents of all ages with a passion for plants and gardening, to help make the borough bloom. All entries are judged on individual merit and awards from bronze, silver, silver gilt and gold.
Executive Member for Community, Councillor Connie Hockley, said: “Thirteen years after the competition first began, Fareham in Bloom is one of the most successful community gardening campaigns in the south. Year after year the entries get better and better. It is obvious that a huge amount of hard work and time goes into residents’ ‘pride of joy’ and I look forward to seeing this year’s creations.”
Application forms can be collected from the Civic Offices, Civic Way, Fareham, or are available online at www.fareham.gov.uk. A form can also be found in the spring edition of Fareham Today. Applications must be returned to Fareham Borough Council by Friday 20 June.
