Visit five of the best ‘Fareham in Bloom’ gardens

Organisers of this year’s Gardens Open Day, being held on Sunday 20 July are hoping to beat the staggering £1,917 raised at last year’s event for local charities. Open to all, the event gives members of the public the chance to see some of the borough’s award winning gardens.

This year five of the best ‘Fareham in Bloom’ gardens are on show at:

51 Longmynd Drive, Fareham; 7 Downland Close, Locks Heath; Eleanors Wood, Upper Cornaway Lane, Portchester; Wisteria Cottage, Gudge Heath Lane, Fareham; and Northern Junior School, Portchester.

Executive Member for Community, Councillor Connie Hockley, said: “This wonderful event is growing in popularity each year. We had 248 people visit the gardens last year and work continues in earnest to make this year the best yet! I for one can’t wait to see what marvellous creations are waiting to be seen in these extraordinary gardens.”

The charities benefiting from the money raised are: The Mayor of Fareham’s charities (the NSPCC ,Crimestoppers, Fareport Talking News) and the Studley Trust. They will be presented with their share of the money raised at this year’s Fareham in Bloom presentation on Thursday 11 September at Ferneham Hall.
