Public Consultation on the draft Portchester Castle Street Character Assessment

Members of the public can comment on a draft Character Assessment Document that is being produced for the Portchester (Castle Street) Conservation Area. The draft document identifies the special architectural and historic character of the Portchester (Castle Street) Conservation Area, its key features and opportunities for its enhancement.

Individual letters have been sent to properties within the conservation area boundary and site notices are also in place. Details of the consultation can also be found at www.fareham.gov.uk

Executive Member for Planning and Transportation, Councillor David Swanbrow, said: “This is the public’s opportunity to have their say on what they think about the draft character assessment for the Castle Street Conservation Area in Portchester. Once adopted the document will influence planning policy and decision making with the aim of preserving the character and appearance of the conservation area.”

Any comments should be sent by 25 July 2008 to the Conservation Officer, Fareham Borough Council, Civic Offices, Civic Way Fareham, PO16 7AZ or by email to conservation@fareham.gov.uk.
