New state of the art recycling bins can now be seen on the streets of Fareham as part of the council’s continuous commitment towards promoting recycling.
As part of a 12 month trial period on street recycling bins have been placed in six locations around the borough deemed to have the highest footfall.
During the trial period, information will be gathered on the effectiveness of removing recyclable materials from general litter in these areas.
List of locations:
Portchester precinct
Civic way path
Henry Cort Drive
Salterns car park
Centre Way
Shore Road HM office
The bins are made from durable moulded polyethelene, a material which is resistant to most acids, salts and solvents making removing graffiti easier and is also resistant to impact, fracture and shattering.
All the bins have a 240-litre capacity and take card & paper, cans and plastic bottles.
Executive member for Street Scene, Councillor Brian Bayford said: “These new on street recycling bins are another way we as a council are committed to reducing litter on the streets as well as promoting recycling across the borough. The scheme has already proved very popular with many residents using the facilities, which I hope will continue.”
