Due to the increase in housing developments in the borough, particularly in the western wards, it has now become necessary to change the days some households have their bins collected. From Monday 4th February 2,885 households will be having their bins collected on different days. Of these, 339 households will have their refuse and recycling collection weeks swapped over and 2,546 households will have their collection day changed but not the week. Extra collections will be provided to ensure that no households will have to wait for three weeks for a collection during the change over.
Those households involved in the changes are being contacted by the council via letter, advising them of their new day for bin collections. The majority of households in the borough will not have their collection days changed.
Executive Member for Streetscene, Councillor Brian Bayford, said: “The number of properties increasing in the western wards has led to an imbalance in bin collection rounds, making it necessary to change the day that some bins in the borough are collected.
“We apologise for any inconvenience these changes cause our residents and ask the public to be patient during the change over, which once implemented should improve the efficiency of the council’s refuse and recycling services.”
