Fareham TIC open day

Fareham Tourist Information Centre will be holding an open day on Tuesday 11 March, as part of British Tourism Week (10-18 March) at Westbury Manor Museum.

In its second year, British Tourism Week will be focusing on the build up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games; and in Fareham the Tourist Information Centre will be highlighting sport and the general health and well being of visitors and residents. Staff from Fareham Borough Council’s Community Development and Fareham Leisure Centre will be tempting the public into activity with information on walking your way to health and promoting everyone to be more active more often.

Executive Member for Community, Councillor Connie Hockley, said: “This open day is an excellent opportunity for people to learn more about health and well being, whilst at the same time finding out about what Fareham’s Tourist Information Centre and the chance to see Westbury Manor Museum.”

The public will also learn about healthy eating; food labelling; how to enjoy physical exercise; learn how to combat stress and give up smoking.

Staff from local attractions including Bursledon Brickworks and Marwell Zoo will also be on hand, as well as a display by Portsmouth Historic Ships and a competition to guess the secret Olympian! All money made from the competition will be donated to Sports Relief 2008.
