Simply Scented Workshop at Sensory Garden

Tickets are on sale for the Simply Scented horticultural workshop in Fareham’s Sensory Garden on Saturday 29th March.

The hands-on day run by the Fareham in Bloom volunteer team starts at 10.30am in Fareham’s Sensory Garden, where Leigh Hunt from RHS Wisley Gardens will be guiding the public through how to create a rainbow of scent and colours that stimulate the senses.

Executive Member for Community, Councillor Connie Hockley, said: “Scents and colours help stimulate the senses and this event has been designed to help people get to grips with plants that smell and their wonderful colours. We’re delighted that Leigh Hunt, an adviser from Wisley Gardens will be working with us on this event.”

Colours of the rainbow are the theme of this event to mark 21 years of the Rainbows (girl guides aged 5-7yrs) and a new shrub bed will be planted as part of the workshop and to mark the occasion.

Tickets cost £2.50 per person and with 40 places available pre booking is essential. Contact Fareham Tourist Information Centre, tel: 01329 221342.

Notes to editors:

The Sensory Garden of Reflection, in Osborn Road South, was opened 10 years ago, on Friday 21st August 1998. Themed on the arousal of the senses, including touch, vision, sound and fragrance, the garden has provided an opportunity for self-interpretation and reflection within a comfortable, secure and sustainable environment.
