Fareham Local Biodiversity Action Plan Review

The consultation period for residents to have their say on the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) ends on 30 April. There is still time for people to read and comment on the draft review document which is available online at www.fareham.gov.uk/consultation, at local libraries or from the Ecologist at Fareham Borough Council by phoning 01329 236100.

The final BAP review document will help steer the work of the Council where it affects biodiversity and provide guidance for members of the public, community groups and developers. We need residents’ views to ensure that the Biodiversity Action Plan Review correctly identifies the key habitats, species and issues and reflects local priorities and concerns.

One of the proposals contained in the document is a new Fareham Wildlife Improvement Grant to help local groups and landowners enhance Biodiversity Action Plan habitats and increase understanding of wildlife and the impacts on biodiversity. Expressions of interest in the grant together with any comments on any details contained in the BAP review document should be sent in writing to the Ecologist, Department of Planning & Transportation, Fareham Borough Council, Civic Offices, Civic Way, Fareham PO16 7AZ or by e-mail to nature@fareham.gov.uk. The draft document will be presented to the Executive in mid June.
