Officers from Fareham Borough Council’s Community Action Teams (CATs) will be attending police beat surgeries around the borough over the coming months.
Beat surgeries offer an opportunity for residents to meet their neighbourhood policing team and discuss local priorities and safety issues. They also allow feedback of action taken on neighbourhood priorities.
Community Engagement Officers will be on hand to offer members of the public information about the CATs meetings and why it’s important that residents take this opportunity to discuss concerns they have regarding their local communities; suggest ideas for improvements; as well as the chance to bid for funds for local projects.

As well as elected members, officers from Fareham Borough Council, representatives from Hampshire Police, the County Council, the Primary Care Trust, and the Local Strategic Partnership will be attending. The meetings will, once again offer residents the chance to meet the people providing their local services.
Executive Member for Service Performance and Improvement, Councillor Trevor Cartwright, said: “Once again Community Engagement Officers will be out around the borough offering residents information on the next round of CATs meetings.
By attending police beat surgeries it is hoped residents will have greater access to the work our Community Action Teams carry out. They also allow the council to work closely with the police in dealing with any concerns residents may have.”
Chief Inspector for Fareham Steve Wallace, said: "Beat surgeries are a vital part of community engagement. The police are committed to maintaining a regular level of contact with residents, taking on board any concerns that they might have and offering advice on crime prevention.
"I would encourage members of the community to attend their local meeting and have the chance to meet their local police officers and representatives from our partner agencies.”
