What are Community Action Teams (CATs)?

CATs are meetings set up at certain times throughout the year which help to ensure that we have a better understanding of the needs of Fareham residents and communities.  The meetings give us a chance to hear from you and for you to hear from us. It  is hoped that they will make a real difference to residents and their communities.  There is also the opportunity to bid for Community Funding.  Funding can only be used for capital projects.

Which CATs meeting should I attend?

The CATs ward map will help you to establish where your local meeting is to be held, but if you are still unsure, please contact your CATs officer  on 01329 236100 or email cats@fareham.gov.uk to find out your local meeting venue.  If you cannot make the date at a particular venue you are welcome to attend any other CAT meeting.

How can I find out where meetings are held?

CAT map/streetfinder - find out which CAT meeting is in your area.

Please contact your local CATs Officer for your ward

Can anyone attend a CAT meeting?

Yes - anyone who lives or works in Fareham can attend a CAT meeting.  There is no need to inform us that you are attending, please just turn up. You can attend as a resident  or as a member of a group or business. If you cannot make the date at a particular venue you are welcome to attend any other CAT meeting.

Who can bid for funds?

Any resident, or organisation based in the Borough of Fareham can apply for money from the Community Fund.  Money will not be handed over to an individual; it will be given to the club/contractor or organisation. If applying for more than £5,000, you will be expected to contribute at least the same amount of money to the project from other sources

How do I place a bid?

Contact your local Community Action Team Officer on 01329 236100 or email cats@fareham.gov.uk.to discuss your project.  If it is agreed that you can apply for funding your CAT Officer will be able to help you to complete the application form.

What can I bid for?

You can only apply for funding to meet 'one off' capital costs.  For example if you think your club house/village hall requires a new kitchen, a bid can be placed, however, if granted, the club/association would then be responsible for any upkeep and maintenance of the new kitchen.

If you would like further advice on funding and how to apply, or have any questions, please contact your local CAT Officer on 01329 236100 or email cats@fareham.gov.uk

What will happen at the CAT meetings?

Each meeting will be different as the agenda will be set from issues raised at the previous meeting.  However, at every meeting there will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.  Each meeting will be supported by the police, who will feedback on crime figures in the area and respond to any queries you may have.

Who will lead/chair the meetings?
