Frequently Asked Questions about CATs

What are Community Action Teams (CATs)?An image of jelly people

CATs are there to ensure that we have a better understanding of the needs of the Fareham residents and communities.  The meetings will give us a chance to hear from you and for you to hear from us. It is hoped they will make a real difference to individuals and to communities.  There is £100,000 available for communities to bid for.  This money can be used for capital projects only.

How do I place a bid?

You will need to complete an Expression of Interest Form (76 Kb) PDF Logo and send it back to us.  If your project is eligible for a bid, we will contact you to arrange a meeting to complete the bid form.

Who can bid for money?

Anyone can bid for money for an improvement to the local area.  Money will not be handed over to an individual; it will be given to the club/contractor or organisation.

What can I bid for?

Anything that doesn’t have revenue to it.  For example if you think your club house/village hall needs a new kitchen, a bid can be placed, but the club/hall would be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the kitchen.

Can I attend a meeting?

Yes - anyone who lives or works in Fareham can attend a meeting.  There is no need to inform us that you are attending, please just turn up.

What will happen at the meetings?

Each meeting will be different as the agenda will be set from issues raised at the previous meeting.  However, at every meeting there will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.  Each meeting will be supported by the police, who will feedback on crime figures in the area and respond to any queries you may have.

Who will lead/chair the meetings?

Your local councillors will chair the meetings.

Who are the chairmen?

What authorities will be at the meetings?

Councillors, officers from Fareham Borough Council, representatives from Hampshire Police, Hampshire County Council, the Primary Care Trust, and the Local Strategic Partnership - Networkfareham.

Who do I contact at the council?

Fareham Borough Council - 01329 236100

  • Community Development Managers
  • Community Engagement Officers
  • Community Assistant

I can’t attend a meeting but I have an issue I want to bring up, what do I do?

Contact us via the CATs e-mail address cats@fareham.gov.uk or call us and we can make the chairman aware of your issue and add it to the minutes.

How can I find when and where the meetings are?

Nearer the time there will be leaflets and posters displayed around Fareham with meeting details on them.  The information will also be put on the meetings page. You should also look out for your copy of Fareham Today. CATs meetings are scheduled to take place just after the arrival of each issue and the magazine will contain the dates, times and venues.

How can I get a copy of the notes?

E-mail cats@fareham.gov.uk or call us and we will send you a copy.  The notes from the most recent meeting will be posted on the meetings page after the meeting.  Notes from previous meeting and any additional meeting notes (meetings organised due to issues raised at the CATs meetings) can be found on the previous notes page.

Which CATs meeting should I attend?

There is a copy of the ward map (CATs Map) on the website, but if you are still unsure, please contact us.
